5 Years after 9/11...Remembering the forgotten victims

While much attention has been focused on the emerging health crisis of 9/11 rescue workers, more than 40,000 clean up workers, many of whom are undocumented immigrants, have been forgotten. On September 6, 2006, Ground Zero clean up workers mobilized in a rally at site.

Community Access TV and Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) are under threat by Congressional legislation! Why do we care? Because:

Yolanda's Story: Winning Back Our Health
Yolanda's Story tells about a unique community-controlled health care program, the 9/11 Beyond Ground Zero Community Health Initiative. In conjunction with Bellvue Hospital, this program provides much needed treatment for respiratory and other health problems related to 9.11 for LES and Chinatown residents and WTC workers. NMASS members fought hard to make this program a reality, and this video tells of one member's experiences.
WTC Worker Interview
World Trade Center clean up workers are among the hardest hit with severe health problems in the wake of 9/11. NMASS is mobilizng WTC workers to fight for treatment and compensation, as many are suffering from work-related injuries. Workers, many of whom are undocumented, were only given paper suits to clean the toxic dust and debris that was left behind.
